VIDEO: Highlights from JSerra, Norco football scrimmage
The Norco football program welcomed back one of its finest alumni Friday night.
Pat Harlow was a standout offensive lineman who graduated from Norco in 1988. Harlow played at USC and was the No. 11 pick in the 1991 NFL Draft. He played eight seasons in the NFL — five with the Patriots and three more with the Raiders — before retiring. Harlow appeared in 105 games, starting 94 of those.
Harlow is preparing for his first season as the head coach at JSerra.
“A lit bit,” Harlow said when asked if it felt weird being on visiting sidelines for Friday evening’s scrimmage against his alma mater. “It’s been a long time since I played here … it feels different.”
Tarik Luckett got the scrimmage off to a dynamic start when he made a one-handed catch for a touchdown on JSerra’s fourth play. Luckett, a junior, made another highlight-reel TD catch later in the evening.

Norco senior running back Travis Dye scored a pair of touchdowns, including one from 40 yards out. Sophomore running back Arrys Lyons also rushed for a touchdown for the Cougars.
The teams ran about 30-40 offensive plays apiece during the scrimmage. JSerra scored four touchdowns and did not turn the ball over. Norco scored three touchdown but also turned the ball over three times.
“I thought our running game is where it needs to be,” Norco coach Chuck Chastain said. “Our team played well to the speed of the game that we need to play on Friday nights. We’ll try to clean up the rest, but it’s a good opponent to face and that’s what you really want out of a scrimmage.
“And it was great having Harlow back in town,” said Chastain, who is a Norco alum himself
Norco opens the season Friday, Aug. 25, at home against Servite.
JSerra opens on the road Friday, Aug. 25, against Corona del Mar at Newport Harbor High.
