Santa Ana police release video of armed man attacking woman during a robbery, suspect at large

Santa Ana police are trying to identify a man seen on video attacking a woman during an armed robbery at a business.

On Monday night, Feb.12 at 10:53 p.m. the suspect entered the business in the 3700 block of West McFadden Avenue and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at a victim demanding money, the Santa Ana Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.

Surveillance video from inside the business shows the suspect hitting the victim, a woman, several times and pulling her hair. At times she tries to run from him and the suspect strangles her.

He made off with cash in a newer model Toyota Camry or similar four-door sedan, police said. The victim had several injuries to her face and head as a result of the attack.

Authorities are trying to identify and find the man who they described as a Hispanic man from 22 to 28 years old and about 5-feet 7-inches tall and 160 pounds. He’s got short, black hair, a medium complexion and a tattoo on his right forearm.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Duane Greaver at 714-245-8362 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
