Highlights from Friday’s UCLA football training camp practice
A brief look at UCLA’s training camp practice at Spaulding Field
The UCLA defense claimed its second straight victory over the offense with a clutch stop on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line. Running back Jalen Starks tried to pound the ball up the middle, but the No. 2 defensive line didn’t budge.
On five drives, each starting from the 25-yard line, the offense scored one touchdown and two field goals. Starks scored the touchdown on a 1-yard rush on third down during the No. 2 offense’s first drive. J.J. Molson made field goals from 33 and 35 yards, but missed a 39 yarder.
TAKE A HIKE
Emotions ran high during Friday’s practice as running back Bolu Olorunfunmi was booted from the field during the second team period. A missed block left Olorunfunmi at the mercy of linebacker Kenny Young, who popped the junior with a big tackle at the goal line during a live tackling team period. Olorunfunmi returned to the sideline fuming. Offensive lineman Sunny Odogwu and running back Nate Starks tried to calm Olorunfunmi down, but running backs coach DeShaun Foster instead just sent his player to the locker room.
