Brush fire burns 12 acres in Irvine

IRVINE A brush fire burned about 12 acres Saturday, Aug. 19, authorities said.

The blaze was reported at 3:18 p.m. near the intersection of Jeffrey and Hicks Haul Road, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz.

An OCFA helicopter dropped water and firefighters had the blaze under control in about an hour

There were reports of power lines down in the area but it hasn’t been determined if there is a connection between that and the blaze, Kurtz said.

No structures were threatened. Thirty-five firefighters responded.
